Powdercoat removal

So here I am again to change something. This is my steering knuckle my uncle and I powdercoated. Nothing wrong with product or application. I just wanted bare metal or paint. Probably painting. Here is what I found. Powder coat came from Eastwood. I bought a can of Kleen strip premium at Walmart. I think I paid around $20. Before I did this I tried to burn the powder off with a torch. I was not very successful. About 5:30pm I put the knuckle in a plastic bag poured the stripper in put in a container and just made sure it was covered. I got up this morning and started the stripping. I was impressed it worked like the video I watched. It actually started to come off the moment it was placed in the bag. Smell to me was not strong but unpleasant stripper smell. Had it in the garage overnight and in the morning a faint but noticeable odor. I use a plastic scraper and the powder scraped off easily. I did spend a lot of time letting it sit and about an hour of scrapping and a wire brush. I am now going to put back in stripper for another hour or so and clean again, blast and decide finish. One down one to go.

11 pm got it clean enough for the blaster. Very easy to scrape off. One more to go.

Put it in the blaster and gave it a quick blast. Wire wheel and ready for final blast, clean and paint. I’m going to get the other one ready and paint together. I did notice stamps I don’t think I saw with the powder also I’m not sure of the ones on my drum set. If they are the same.

One correction above is 11 pm should be 11 am. Put the second part in the left over stripper and added a small amount from a new can. Let it sit over night. Today spent about 3 hours scrapping and blasting. Took a screwdriver to take off leftover powder which I probably could have used sandpaper.I can try that on the first part that needs it. Then blast and primer/paint. Pictures are of second knuckle.

Gasket remover works good for removing powdercoat.
Not sure if this is a question or a statement. Could be both. This was cheaper more readily available stripper. The first video I watched used pematex gasket stripper, but it’s harder to find. This stuff also sells at depot and they have other kinds. This came from Wally and they only had the sprayable in the premium.I’m also going to try it on the wood deck rails. They need painting. Thanks for following

They had this in a spray can at depot and I was wondering if it would work but I just stuck with the same stuff I used on the first knuckle. Until you said something I thought I used gasket stripper that’s what I was originally searching. You taught me something. Thanks again
