SSBC rear disc brakes

Hope this is an ok question to ask, but here it goes. There is a guy on the OCS selling what appears to be a lightly used rear disc brake kit for what seems to be a great price. Even considering 100+ dollars for shipping. I haven't inquired about it yet, but the post is still up.
Posts have been up for a while and most recent post is asking $300 or reasonable offers.

I'm of the mind that if there is a good deal out there, someone would have taken it already especially on a universally desirable product like brake upgrades.

Would you take a chance on this? Am I right that the price is very good? The seller has a very old account (year 2005) but only 179 posts. He's made a few posts here and there about upgrading to a Baer or Wilwood setup (I forget which one), so maybe it's legit.

As a buyer is this just a crap shoot or if using PayPal do you have some recourse if the product never arrives and the seller becomes a ghost?

PM me if you have comments you'd rather not say outloud
Thanks.

Imo, you have to really drive your car hard to see any advantage. You'd also need a different master and I'm assuming a different prop valve and lines may or not need altering. If I ever went rear disk, I'd certainly blueprint rear axle end play, which is easy, it's a 600$ set new with free shipping.

What about Parking brake?

I messaged him and it's still available. He offered $400 shipped. He says shipping to me ran $150. I asked about parking brake and he sent me a picture of the backside of one of the calipers and there's a lever there that I guess gets activated by your stock parking brake cable system.
I agree that there's not going to necessarily be a performance advantage for my needs. Largely it's a cosmetic upgrade to be honest. I need a new prop valve anyway even if I don't so the upgrade so that's not a downside to me but I'd have to get a new master cylinder.

Does PayPal offer any protection in this situation as far as you know?
What do ya think?

Looks like the current Summit price is > $1300

I have had dealings with people that turned out ok, there are still some honest people in the world. I bought a lawn mower part from a guy in CA, wanted money order. he received payment, sent it out and all was good

My rule is have a phone conversation, then just use your best judgement. NEVER commit over texts unless you are protected. Paypal friends/family protects nobody, paypal standard protects the buyer, but allows a shady buyer to screw the seller, so smart sellers don't use it.

I have that brand front and rear on my wifes 68 Camaro. It was the whole kit with the master and stainless lines. I was very please with the kit.

Man, the fact that it’s still available makes me wonder “what does everyone else know that I don’t?”

Sounds like it’s a total leap of faith.
I don’t know that he’s got enough posts on OCS to have anyone vouch for him and if nothing showed up, I’d have no recourse.

Probably I’ll just pass. Too much risk. If it were a local sale or a guy that everyone could vouch for I’d be all over it.

Thanks
