Government -- All Adults Under 65 Need to Have Mental Health Screening

guess I'm a pussy... been on antidepressants for about a year now. May have saved my life, and definitely saved my career.
I was spiraling into a pretty dark place of anxiety and depression.

I'm in no way in favor of forced screening, or even government keeping records of it, but asking for help was the hardest decision I ever made.

Big difference Derek in having mental health issues to begin with, and my Dad had depression so I know about it first hand, but when the government is making blanket statements like that, it causes a whole new rash of government dependents that we don't need.

If your depressed you need to address it like a disease.
It is a contagious one too. A friend in the UK did a stint where she took phone calls from people who are depressed. Some had very legit reasons, as in lots of bad luck, others had hormone problems (yes, men too) which generally could be taken care of with simple medicines.
The group that does this volunteer work will only allow one to take calls for two years as they found that the volunteers would take on the depression of their callers.

Blanket screenings are pure bs. Just another check on a form that qualifies funding. A concerned doctor or health professional is rare. Even a concerned psychiatrist is not the norm.
Agreed. In most professions it is hard to find competent practitioners. Lawyers are the worst...
The state "evaluation" concept is soooo 1984...

We will all learn to love Big Brother..(you know, "The Big Guy")...

Nope. I don't like our government and what it has become, a bloated body of socialist idiots who cater to who whines the most. Government was meant to guide, not take over. We need less government and people to become more reliant on themselves.
