Bad Gas.

Brought the boat to the lake, was hard to start on the trailer last weekend. Still in the campsite, won't start. Fires and shuts off. Gas doesn't smell right. Home is not far, taking it back and getting the kayaks.

Did a carb from a boat for a guy about 3 months ago. It had sat for a couple years, it was full of white crap. I don't know if it was straight gas or not, probably got water in it.

I read that you can add Star Tron (or StarBrite ) to help keep old gas clean too, so you might want to try using it on what you already have in the tank rather than dumping it or using it in the lawn mower . I have been using it in the ElCamino's gas as I haven't had the energy or the mindset to work on the car but I don't have any results so far. But the things I read about it from users of it on the Chevelle & Camaro websites have been positive.

Interesting.. For $7 will be worth it. 30 gallons is a lot of fuel to get rid of.

For $7 I'd try the Star Tron, when I buy gas for the Chevelle, bikes or lawn stuff I add Stabil right away since my carb stuff sits long times

All of the old gas is in gas cans, 10 gallons in the Dodge. Gas did not smell bad. I put a gas can of fresh gas in the boat, meaning I bypassed the tank and ran directly from the gas can, finally got her started and got the crap through it. Ran good, warmed her up to 160 degrees, 50 lbs oil pressure at idle, charging at 14V. I ran the carb out of gas when shutting her down. Hopefully the next time the cover comes off won't be to drain the water out of the block for winter.

Hopefully the Dodge enjoys the "cheap" gas from the Trump era.

Dodge has had 10 gallons of the gas so far, been doing fine.

After thinking about it the boat may have a bad ignition switch and not the gas. Needed to be burned anyway, don't want to waste that liquid gold.
