Shipping Trans from NY to FL.

Anyone know a good way to ship a trans from up North to Down South? might buy a TCI 200-r4 & 2500 lock up conv. 700hp version from a TC member for $1,000 if I can get it safely shipped here at a reasonable rate, another question what's a reasonable rate? Edit in 06 I had a crate Harley engine (same weight?) shipped from Charleston WV to here for $109 through that cities HD dealer, think it'll be under $200 ? EDIT #2 Maybe I can call our Gov. and ask if he's got any planes headed that way soon and if I can give a few bucks to "A Rider" to load the trans for the return flight :ROFLMAO:

Use this site to get an idea of what it will cost:

Ideally you would want it in a plastic case designed for shipping transmissions:

But, if he has a pallet, he can wrap the transmission in plastic and strap it down. If you are concerned, then have someone build a crate for it.

He said he could put it on a pallet, he really only wanted to sell locally but I guess it's not selling? said he's in no hurry either but I sure could use an OD trans that'll handle 600 tq and the price is right, said it's got about 500 mi. on it, some 50' burn outs from car get togethers etc., he also gave me a number to a shipping co right down his street so I'm giving them a call tomorrow to see what they say

That's an awesome price so $200 shipping wouldn't bother me at all

I'm hoping no more than $200 but for a $3K+ 200r4 that's supposedly in great cond. I guess I'd pay a little more for shipping, I'm asking my Baker AC Dist where their closest warehouse is to him and see if I can get it shipped through them, I had my home outdoor heat pump trucked down from Atl. Ga. for $100 in 2020, probably weighs close to the same, very close since he figures 160ish with conv & pallet think my units around that

Who built the trans? Ask the guy if he'll build a crate.
Its a TCI trans & conv., guy really wants to sell it locally but said he'd drain the Monster Blood ? fluid, seal it up and put it on a pallet, I dont want to ask for to much since he posted Local Pick Up Only, TCI doesnt seem to sell 200r4's anymore and this trans is around 10 yrs old but was in a project for a long time not being used

If this does work out it'll be time to change DS and buy a good yoke, TC members designed ratchet shift detent, maybe a higher stall conv.

I bought a 4x4 trans with transfer case and had it shipped LTL and it came to $175 (about 8 years ago). The seller put it on a pallet and strapped it down and he dropped it off at the trucking company. At the time I had my Bobcat with forks and I offloaded it off the trailer.

The customer I just put the compressor in for said LTL he does sailboat work and they ship them all over the country he was telling me to give them a shout the guy that gave me the shipping info that's down the street from him I called them they said between 5:00 and $700 I thought that was a bit way too high

Shipping prices in the past 2 years have skyrocketed, so expect that. I have used Fastenall before with great success and the absolute cheapest I could fine. I've stepped in it big time by guessing shipping costs on sold items and getting stuck with the price.

Thanks Brian but I already made a deal with the seller to take it to Towanda NY ( near him ) for drop off, this hurricane, home stuff and work has my head spinning

I forgot to post this, $376 with LTL to bring it from their drop off point in Towanda NY to Tampa Fl., seems reasonable enough considering the way things are going in this country, we're waiting till after the Hurricane to ship...Duh LOL

Closed the deal on the trans a little while ago, $373 shipping, he dropped to $800 he said he thought I should have the conv flushed since the Raptor blood trans fluid is Blue and he mixed B&M Green fluid and when he emptied the trans it's brown but no weird smell or anything on the mag drain plug so he thinks it's fine and didn't have any issues, $200 to cover the cost of flushing the conv was what he thinks is fair, IMO it's more than fair, he also said he'd use the trans again but he's building a 900 hp NA BBC and it wouldn't hold up to that power level

Shipping tomorrow after straping & wraping or visa versa lol, taking out a 3200 stall that I really like and installing the 2500 lock up that comes with the trans, cam co. says use a 2800 min so I guess Ill wait and see how it works out

Congratulations. Sounded like a good deal so glad you were able to work out a deal. I have a TH 350 and would love to get an OD trans.
