Kid Was in "Hit and Run" But Now Charged with a Class 2 Misdemeanor

Daughter called and told me she was in an accident, driver was hit and run and it happened on a city street going through campus. The university police investigated and called me as I own the car. Nobody was hurt. Going to take the rescue trailer tonight and bring it home. Now to find parts. Car has almost 300,000 on it so it has basic insurance.

Just learned her roommate passenger has a mild concussion, she went to the school health center because she was feeling dizzy.
 
This is all blown to shit. Cops said daughter and other driver hindered an investigation saying a 3rd car was involved and they determined there was not now both are charged with class 2 misdemeanors for lying to the cops.

Going to call an attorney today.
 
Innocent until proven guilty. Get a good criminal attorney. Make the cops prove she was lying. If they can't, then sue the ever living shit out of the cops.

Poor girl is at home, we brought her back close to midnight last night. Scared to be on campus, scared of cops and worried she will be kicked out of school and be thrown in jail. I have always taught my kids to be truthful and it bit her in the ass. I have lost all respect for law enforcement!

Not all of them are bad, just a select few. Let momma spend the day with her reassuring her everything is going to be ok and you guys are going to make sure she's good.
 
Would it be a mistake to go to the Police Chief and let him know what this cop has done ?
Maybe that could get the charge dropped.
Or let the attorney talk to the chief.

You don't know how they will act or of they will cover and protect the officers.

A seasoned attorney has much more experience and won't be pushed away.

Always best to let an attorney handle it.
