AAW classic update wiring harness - how to run idiot lights and gauges?

The wiring harness kit includes provisions for gauges. I’m going to have oil pressure, coolant temp, fuel and volt meter (as well as speedo and tach).
I’d like light to run the stock idiot lights. It doesn’t appear this kit is set up for that.

In the 67 at has 1. Oil, 2. Temp, 3. Gen and 4. brake warning lights.

Anyone know how I would make a harness to accomplish this?

I assume the oil pressure and temp warning light require a separate sending unit from the ones feeding the gauges. Temp sending unit I assume you’d run 2 separate sending units in the heads or intake etc. I’ve heard for the oil pressure people put a “T” to run two sending units.

Brake sending unit is in the prop valve I think.

What sends the signal to the idiot light for “gen” which I assume is alternator or low voltage?

Can someone explain how an idiot light work? Off the top of my head I’d guess each of the 4 light bulb holders would get 12 volt keyed power (whenever the key is on). These would be run in series. Then each idiot light bulb holders would have a separate wire running to their respective sending unit. I assume if you had low oil pressure or high coolant temp, the sending unit would complete circuit, grounding the idiot light to the engine block. Does that sound right?

Thanks.

In the upper half of this AAW schematic there is a pink wire that sends 12 volts to power each of the gauges. My idea is to simply use this pink power wire to add in series the 4 idiot lights. Then just add 4 more wires to be run to the respective sending units.
Sounds right?

Thanks

That's exactly how it works. Each sending unit / sensor just closes the connection to illuminate the light.

Yep.

Not entirely sure because it's different between cars with external regulators and internal regulators.
