Saving Old Lumber -- Part of Homesteading

I just bought (6) 2x4x10 pressure treated for the greenhouse and it was $76. I was shocked, then I remembered how things are now with supplies.

I think lumber has come down some, but listening to a guy talk about steel roofing sound like it has gone through the roof. Pardon the pun.

The prices of everything will soon be for the rich only (if you can even get it). Grocery shelves are getting empty, many of the shelves in home improvement are bare. I went to buy the underground cable (2awt) for my new shop and there isn't any to buy.

Pre China Bio Weapon Flu I (All local ac contractors) were getting a once a year 4-6% price increase on equipment and materials, since the begining of last year 5 or 6 price increases and another email today saying to look forward to an up to 10% increase, IMHO all these increases are just an excuse for mfg's to fatten their pockets, I do realize there's a problem with certain aspects of selling supplies but my dist recently posted signs "Plenty of Equipment in Stock Now" then this damn email saying they need more $$$

I was at Orielleys last night anti freeze supply is low, the guy said they can't get Wix filters.

I want to tear down my old garage to build one with a 2nd story on it. It all has to come down as the slab needs to be replaced as it's bad, really bad. The 2X4's are Douglas Fur and are hard as rocks. No way an I going to let that great wood go to waste, I will save everyone of them if I build new.

Next door is a storage building that was once an old blacksmith shop, probably 100 years old, that my FIL relocated to the property in the 70's. The roof is coming off and pine floor has rotted out. The building is made of oak and the boards are hard as rocks. I need to tear it down. I am thinking I will sawsaw the nails out of it and save the lumber. The boards are so hard you cannot drive nails into them.
