My 65, presently in paint jail

It was purchased in Phoenix 3 years ago and I had it shipped to my home in Tacoma,Wa. It had a 190 hp 283 with a hole in the oil pan from a connecting rod cap that came loose. It had a powerglide on the floor with console. The base coat clearcoat paint was all burned up from sitting in the Arizona sun, the upholstery had been redone in 80's style velour but the sun and heat caused it to turn into rags and powder. The seat buns looked like yellow sand.
I pulled the motor and tranny, removed all of the suspension front and rear, then separated the body from the frame. I wire wheeled the frame and the under side of the body. Cleaned and painted
it and put it back together with all new bushings. I had to replace drivers side floor board and the trunk floor.
I put a Blueprint 383 in it and converted it to a four speed using a U S Gear M20 . I bought an interior kit and redid the seats, carpets door panels and headliner.
It is now in paint jail probably till February or March. IMG_3115.JPGIMG_2949.JPG

I hope you get yours out of jail cheaper than mine.
I'm somewhere between 15 and 20k...... ouch
All at $50/hr labor

Seats look two tone. Are those custom covers or can you buy them off the shelf like that? Looks great.

I have under $4K in the paint job alone, forgot body panels and labor maybe $7-8K but it's not a top quality job either, DD quality, it's really strange IMHO that other trades are expected to do top notch work on a regular basis for a basic price but when it comes to paint and body you can get So So work for X $ or Quality for X $$,$$$$ lol Maybe I'm wrong ??? Edit thinking about it I've seen my share of high priced crap jobs in the bldg trades too, Hope you guys get very nice work done, I pretty much knew what I was getting lol

I am hoping I get what I pay for. I have seen his work and its beautiful but as I get to know the guy I am thinking he is kinda flacky and that has me worried. I have paid him six thou up front to get the job started so I am somewhat committed.

I have had inexpensive jobs and expensive jobs. I would rather pay more for quality then pay for sub par work. One of my cars that was done less expensively needs to be redone and it will cost me more because of the mistakes made.
