I one time thought that the smell of gear oil or burning coolant from a blown head gasket was the worst but not anymore.

Last night I pulled the reservoir off of the tractor that sits below the gear.

The smell of the lubricant in there was a mix of gasoline varnish and gear oil and the yuck was a thick, black, congealed tar like gunk.
