Fuel in Oil?

Is this a sign my carb is dumping fuel in the oil? I have 2 carbs, Holley 850 Classic and a 1,000 HP the HP is on the engine now and seems to run a little better ( it came off a 750 hp 540ci and I’ve only done minor adjustment but wondering if I should change jets or? The 850 came off another friends 467 when he went Eddy Proflo 3 and seems like it needs more of something, here’s a pic of the oil today and it did have a gas odor, oil pretty fresh maybe 10 miles? 10w30 VR1

No it’s a dead head type
IIRC I set the floats when the engine wasn’t really at operating temp just warm enough to idle on its own, I might have them set too high so I’m checking that tomorrow and I have a clear Morison plug for checking while it’s running that should help Edit Gotta love these Damn iPhones when they change your words, amoroso plug 😂 Moroso

It was running great when I put the carb on then a few miles down the road it started acting up, today I had to set the idle up almost a full turn just to keep it running and I checked for vac leaks and my vac gauge says I don’t have any

I’m thinking since I got both carbs used I should rebuild them, a local guy rebuilds and has a flow bench so I’m thinking giving him a call for a dialed in carb rebuild

If the boosters drip fuel it can dilute the oil, but most of the time fuel in the oil will be from the carb being way over rich. What size engine is the 1000hp on? A/D or down leg boosters?

There is a Holley 850 double-pumper that comes without a choke and has the same throttle bore as a 750.
Guys at Team Chevelle always said this was the best carb for a BBC around 525 to 650 hp ?
It has a 4 corner idle and removable air bleeds.
I was able to get one for $400 refurbished. Holley says it's common for dolts to buy way too big a carb or just screwup the installation and return it (when nothings wrong).
They make sure they're ok and sell them refurbished. I had to wait maybe 4 weeks ?
The 750 and this 850 both have 1.688" throttle bores for better low end response.

Forgot about that. Hole in the diaphragm would do it.
When that happened to my L78 (around 1979) with a factory fuel pump the oil filled up really FAST and it ran like shit too. I changed the oil & filter after replacing the FP and it seemed like about 9 quarts came out of the motor because I had to put the drain plug back in and find another drain pan as the first one filled all the way to the top.
When I was done draining the motor oil it had filled both drain pans. It took 2 empty milk jugs to dispose of most of the used oil.
