My daughter's best friend has been fighting a back ache for years, the doctors told her parents to have it checked and they didn't that was 3 years ago. The poor girl did see a doctor and she has an 87 degree bend in her spine that is causing her rib cage to push on her lung plus she has hemophilia.

The father has done searching for a doctor to take on the surgery and found one in Philadelphia. This is where it gets me. They are Muslim, he is the only one who drives. They live in SC and the father says they cannot afford to fly her and her mother up to Philadelphia, the girl has to make the trek alone but can only be gone for 1 day because she must get back to work. He will not take off work to drive her to the consultation. They are going to a Shriners Children's hospital so the surgery and hospital are covered.

I am so pissed at this father, what kind of man won't help a child that could die or be paralyzed! We are probably going to take her to Philly while we are in Maryland in 2 weeks, still working this out. I also know they can afford to send the mother and daughter by plane for the day. I told my daughter is is not our place but will help her. It doesn't surprise me though, the father won't let the girl do anything. She is 19 now and planning her exit, we told her we have an extra room.

Here is the plan, since I struck out at the LKQ for my uncle's van door we will instead take the open car trailer to Ocean City, MD from NC with a Fusion on it.. We have to take the Excursion because we cannot transport our dogs in the car. From there my daughter and I will leave early Monday morning in the car and drive to Philadelphia and meet the girl at the airport. We will take her to the hospital, and my daughter will be with her for the exam. We will then take her back to the airport, send her off and drive back to Ocean City and spend the rest of the week there.

The father's excuse is he needs to have the time to take her to the surgery in July. I call bullshit, spend the money and send the mother with her.

I am with the girl and my daughter at the Shriners children's hospital in Philly. Picked her up at the airport this morning after driving from Ocean city MD this morning. The girls mother is relieved we are here with her, the father doesn't know.
My daughter is back with her in the exam room.

Taking Cale to Mayo Clinic for a minor surgery when he was a toddler was eye-opening for me. It truly is a blessing to have healthy kids, and easy to take it for granted.
