Trying to troubleshoot an issue with the engine. Barely runs, throttle all the way up into choke and barely runs enough to move under its own power. It was running fine then died, then would only barely run on restart.

Had some bad gas last year, cleaned the gas tank, lines and carb, reppaced the fuel filter. Took a good hour of run time to get it running smoothly, had to change the filter several times even after cleaning out the tank. Ran fine all season.

I've got strong fuel flow all the way to the carb. Took the float bowl off, no trash. Used a piece of wire to snake out the tube from the bowl to the venturi. Seems pretty clean.

Not sure what to check next.

I had a similar problem with my Honda mower and found the idle spring was hanging up causing real low idle & stall, I used some spray lube and worked it back and forth with the engine off and it’s fine now617E7234-B0AC-4DB9-BA6C-DCA176B35629.jpeg

Ok, I think I have it running. Let it sit and run for a few minutes after I got back from some errands. Then it died again, same deal. Came back later and tried it again same thing. Then it wouldn’t start at all. I’d had a half tank of gas when I started mowing the day it died on me so I didn’t think to check. But the tank was empty. Put some in and it runs fine. The gas tank going empty is an issue though. Ive had this mower a while now and it should still have had almost a half tank. Doesn’t seem to be leaking puddles though.

Check the oil hopefully it’s not getting into the crankcase

Does it have a plastic gas tank? I had a honda self propelled mower that developed a hairline crack at a seem in the middle of the tank closest to the engine side, but it never displayed any leaking but was always at a 1/2 tank.

Big puddle on the ground. Need to check the tank and also the line from the tank to the filter

I hope yours is easier to get to than my Kohler's. An old mower I have has a B&S and the bowl is easy to remove. Check to make sure there is not too much fuel getting to the carb causing a flood, sometimes the float is overwhelmed, yes, my B&S has that issue but I am running a clickity clack for the pump. Also, I have had good luck with the Chinese carbs for small engines.
