Well my friend and coworker got bad news today, owner at Muscle Machining sent me pics of the 289 after he opened it up so now my friends thinking about a crate engine and Im thinking of either whatever Summit or Jasper has to offer, I told him give John a call to see if someone left a SBF at his shop due to funds etc, I was at my other friend’s upholstery shop a little while ago and he said he had a rebuilt 289 put of his 67 Galaxie vert that fell apart from rust and it had roughly 3k miles on it but been in a shed 5 yrs and my friend wants something either brand new, or freshly rebuilt, any other ideas are welcome 🙂

Its for a 1964 Merc Comet vert, John was saying its an early bolt pattern trans but right now car has another 289 in it bolted to a 2 spd auto, I told my friend since the numbers matching block looks to be scrap iron I put a late model 302 & modern 3-4 spd auto trans but he wants to keep the 2 spd so I said you really need to know what bolt pattern for trans so you get the correct replacement engine, Ive had plenty Fords but that was many yrs ago and I dont remember what years will fit what, if it were mine it’d get a 90’s Fox body drive train

Stupid Fords. Different blocks, different transmission patterns, etc. At least Chevrolet got it right.
Along with push rods going through the intake manifolds on the FE BBF drove me crazy and those manifolds are Heavy Edit but I did like shaft rockers

This company has been around for a while. Stock rebuilds :

The 302 is better than the 351 because it should have a roller cam. But I would ask !

Im forwarding the 65-68 4.7 for $3,173 to him thank you 👍🙂

I showed him a few links I think he’s going to go with a Blueprint 302 roller engine 361hp fully dressed, I told him to call them and ask about it fitting in your car, oil pan, exhaust manifolds or headers? rad clearance to WP, he’s also thinking a modern trans
