A pillar cover installation

I am going to re-install the A pillar covers on my 67 and wanted to know if there is any sealer used. I remember when I took them off that there was a big wad of “dumdum” stuffed into the top end to prevent water from running down inside, but is there any sealer use along the edges?

This picture is the backside. On the left side of the picture is the lip closest to the windshield.
