MAC being weird today, Google related?

All of a sudden my MAC Safari browser is nearly dead.
I cannot do any searches or access any site I do not already have in my history or bookmarks.
At first I thought it was my web connection but other browsers still work fine.
I noted that when I killed off my Google account some features of Safari also reset.
I thought Apple was independent of Google?
I could abandon Safari, but my password manager does not work with other browsers so logging in ranges from PITA to Impossible.
Serious suggestions?
I am updating the OS, hoping that helps.

It sounds like a cookie/cache issue. I rarely use Safari (I prefer Firefox), so I can't give you a lot of guidance on this one. Also, it is Mac. When you capitalize all three letters, it stands for Media Access Control, which is the unique 12 digit identifier for your network interface controller (either the ethernet port or the WiFi card).

P.S. It could also be that you are on a very old version of Safari (the current version is 17.3.1). Websites will cut off access for outdated browsers, as they pose a security risk.
