2000 Excursion Auction Buy

Disassembled the tailgate and ordered a door lock actuator and will be getting door switches. Only piece of interior trim missing is one piece of the rear glass trim so it will be off for a while.
I removed the back seats (2nd row) and cleaned the rug, NASTY, it is much better now.
I removed the pass rear door panel and was able to get the door open, ordered a latch.
Got a new key cut, truck only had one. I used FORSCAN to program the PATS system.
Replaced license plate globe.
Attached new end to gear shift.
Took off 25 year old spare tire, removed valve core and deflated and installed regular wheel (was in the back of the truck when I got it.)

Truck is coming along slowly. To pass inspection truck still needs wiper blades, a third brake bulb and horns repaired. Tires will pass Inspection but will be replaced.

Progress is being made. I removed and installed all of the door panels and latches to replaces the door lock actuators, now all 5 doors lock with the remote. I ordered a latch for the R/R door but it came in wrong, I was able to clean the old latch thoroughly and use it again.

The horns now work. I had to remove the right front wheel, inner fender to access the horns. I had purchased at an auction brand new horns, so I replaced them onto the mount, fixed the connectors and plugged them in, they are nice and loud. I also replaced the wiper blades and a bulb in the l/f marker.

I drove it up the road, it shifts good and has good power but the tires are lumpy. It will pass inspection now but I am going to wait. A previous jack wagon did not put the l/f hub together properly and the ABS light is on. They also did not fix the 4x4 vacuum hoses back correctly and the vacuum seal unit is leaking vacuum, the right side is too. Heck, on the l/f the backing plate wasn't even installed. It will be a job to correct it but completely doable.

Working on the dash. Pulled the cluster out to replace burned out bulbs, on order. Ordered some shift tube bushings from Amazon, I took the column covers off and with minimal effort, dropping the column a little, the bushings are replaced. The Overdrive off/on light wasn't working and as stated on the Ford Trucks forum, looked for a pinched wire. Yup, it was pinched, lever on order.

I found in my stock a long composite cable for a backup camera, I am going to run it back to rear bumper area. I have a radio I took out of Gold Excursion that will be going in this one, blue tooth capable and hand free phone. Installing this HU will all be part of the dash work, fortunately no surprises except for dust and dirt.

After these repairs the only other dash function not working correctly is the backup alarm but ForScan states it is the left bumper sensor.

Been a while since an update.
1. I removed the carpet and seats, they all got cleaned, carpet especially. I took it and hung it over my fence and for 2 weeks i washed and let it sit in the sun.
2. Replaced all of the power locks actuators. Right rear door would not open, took the latch off and cleaned it, got the door working again.
3. Disassembled rear liftgate and cleaned latches and cleaned switches, also cleaned glass out of gate. Finally got it to turn off the interior light. Replaced missing tail gate trim. Reattached barn door trim panels with correct clips
4. Repaired backup sensors, found a bad speaker causing the issue under a piece of trim in the right rear.
5. Removed cluster and replaced bad bulbs, still have 1 to fix.
6. Replaced shifter handle, causing over drive switch not to work.
7. Replaced radio HU with one I had in the garage that I once used in the tan Excursion. Ran a cable to the R/R taillight for future backup camera.
8. Thoroughly pressure washed under the truck to get rid of farm smells.
9.Found I had no heat. Replaced actuator, not the problem. Replaced the heater core after a thorough cooling system flush. Core was completely plugged up.
10. Replaced passenger mirror to match drivers mirror.
11. Replaced interior and exterior bulbs that were burned out.
12. Replaced horns, old ones did not work.
13. Replaced inside mirror with standard mirror.
14. Replaced all 4 front ball joints, vacuum hub seals, front hubs, 4x4 locking hubs, 4x4 vacuum switch, vacuum lines and front ABS sensors.
15. Replaced front rotors and pads.
16. Replaced front steering dampener.
17. Replaced all 4 tires with a highway aggressive tread.

Still to come:
Differential service
Transfer case service
Transmission service
Fuel filter replacement
Repair trip computer
Work on steering wander, probably gear box.
Flush rear heater core
Recover front seats
Last will be polishing.
