Reproduction Tach / Points eliminator

One of the few tasks I have left on my wagon is to get the tach working. I used the AAW points eliminator kit with a repop factory tach. I've read where guys have used a tach filter or a resistor. Any info anyone can share would be helpful. I believe @Shovelrick dealt with something like this on his car on the OCS if I recall correctly.

I used a .5 ohm resistor that I soldered & heat shrank inline on the tach wire, I'll take a pic today and post it, I accidently bought 100 resistors 😆 and gave 20 to the engine builder but if you want a couple send me your address and I'll put a couple in the mail

Thanks for the reply, Rick. Yeah pics would be great. What purpose did the resistor serve & were you getting nothing from the tach prior to installing it inline?

Think of the bright side, 100 resistors means you're fully stocked! If you felt like sending me a couple, I'd really appreciate it. I'll PM you my address.

Thanks.

Yes Pete I wasn't getting any reading now it works fine, I don't have any way of checking it for accuracy but at idle it sounds about right for rpm readings when I adjust the idle up or down and driving at 60ish mph with 27" tall tires I was at 3,000 rpm

Was this a repop tach, Rick? What ignition are you running?

I put the resistor in this line under the spiral plastic cover ( didn't want to open it up but you can see, I also have a few extras lol 🤣 I didn't check PM yet but some will be on the way to you, Oh its on the green wire going to Tach on dist
