Separation Complete

Separation complete!! I had to grind out the last two body bushings. They were right in front of the rear coil springs. Had to cut access holes in the upper trunk and grind the bolt and nut almost completely off to get them out. Altogether, I had to break, cut, or grind out every body mount bolt. I'm pooped....

But it feels great getting the body pulled off, doesn't it? Progress!
Yeah, it does feel like a great accomplishment. Can't wait to get the frame cleaned up and painted, get those new bushings in place, and drop the body back on. Then on to the next step: trunk, wheel houses, and floor.🙂

Nice job. How did you remove it? Do you plan on leaving it on the jack stands?
Thanks man. I had the entire car on jackstands for 17 years. So I jacked the front end up a little under the saddle, then removed the jack stands under the frame and put them in the front part of the rockers, then lowered the jack. Did the back by jacking under the differential then putting the jackstands under the rear rocker area, then again lowering the jack. If I can get the frame cleaned up and painted the way it is now, I'll leave it on the stands. If I need more room, I'll have to figure something else out.

It's going to be tough to reach everything to do the frame. I'd suggest you get some 4x4's under the body, lift it higher and roll the frame out to give yourself clear access. It'll make it easier and go much faster.

Yeah that's a good plan. Thanks Kevin. I'll probably have to go that route.

I used a cherry picker and a jack. I had to remove the gas tank. In my picture of my car my rear hump barely fits under the body. When I had the rear tires on and also now with my frame on a homemade dolly. It does make it easy to work on. Wow 17 years impressive.
