What’d you work on today?

Jambed the vette this morning. I hadn't wanted to do a paint break here, had in mind to do the entire shell in one setting but glad I didn't. In and out and around all these surface areas was a major beeotch. Pretty happy with the outcome. It's a "viper red" that I tinted a bit darker, but honestly wish I'd went a bit more towards blood red. Can't or won't go back now, heck I don't even like red, but it was the original color so here it is......
That’s going to be a beautiful Head Turning Vette 👍👍🙂

Finished messing with the motor mounts. Dropped the engine in and the bolts slid right in - no problems.
Final amount that the engine is raised is .140".
Drug out the TKX trans, flywheel, bellhousing, etc. Set the engine on the floor to assemble everything.
The TKX trans takes a standard bronze pilot bushing (1.094 OD X .594 ID). Bought one made by Pioneer at O'Reilly's for $12.
Put the pilot bearing in the freezer and installed it with a hammer and 32 mm socket.
Installed the 26 lb billet McLeod flywheel and torqued the bolts to 75 ft-lb.
I was fumbling around with the bellhousing rubber boot and it doesn't stay in place when the clutch fork moves ? I'll have to investigate.

After running my idea past the electrician I’ve been using since my old friend and 10% owner of my bus past away in 16 got a game plan for running the pipe from elec meter to auto trans switch so I’ll work on that tomorrow after a small job in the am, Kathy is getting anxious about having everything working when we have a power outage instead of just stuff that’ll run on the portable gen lol

I forgot to mention my old friend since 81-82? Was a 37 yr elec union Jman that got bit by a brown recluse spider and waited 2 weeks before going to the Hosp then got MERSA while in Hosp and died 5-6 days after going there

Should be sitting the engine/trans in tomorrow.
Installed the clutch/pressure plate (centerforce dual friction) and torqued the bolts to 45 ft-lb with blue loctite.
Went to Tractor Supply for bolts and pulled the TKX trans up tight.
Then realized that in a rush I left out the throwout bearing-clutch fork ! 🤪
No big deal; going to pickup a throwout bearing in the morning and get everything set in the Chevelle.

Seems that's much more common than it should be. A friend's sil dyed of septis and I think it came from mrsa while in the hospital.....he was only in his late 30s.

I almost asked, but I trusted you did. I seen your factory dowels. It's probably more common to see a 621 bell being within spec but I've never checked one. I've got 3 cars with Lakewood blow proofs and all 3 needed correction.

I didn’t see it happen but a good friends older bro had a 69 Boss 302 that he DD and raced at Sunshine speedway, he blew the clutch through the hood at the track, his brother told me it scared the shit out of him so he put a blow proof BH on the car, he left the hood like that for years I guess as either a reminder or to let other people know he had a fast car? If I was running a manual trans it’d have a BP BH, I’ve read of people loosing toes/feet

I always thought the flywheel was the big danger. Are you sure it was the clutch that blew ?
That's why I bought the SFI billet flywheel.

That's what my friend told me his bro said and when I went to look at buying the older bros 67 Coronet R/T 440 mag & 4 spd for $400 that he was DD & racing before he bought the Boss I remember him saying he had to put a new clutch in it when I was looking at the hood, he didn't mention flywheel but he might have changed that too, weird what you can remember from almost 50 yrs ago but I really wanted that R/T but dad wouldn't let me buy it, talked me into buying a 64 Tbird with a blown trans for $350 then wouldn't help change the trans lol

Went and looked at a water drip issue, this is a lady that I service her moms ac, I explained if I took the air handler apart and cleaned it WO changing the way it’s filtered it’ll just get dirty again real quick, (waters dripping off dirt) it’s filtered in an adjustable air handler stand and has air gaps all around so Tues we’re removing the air handler, put an enclosed filter rack on the bottom with a mag door and I rec’d a safety over flow pan on the floor to Cauthen any water if there’s ever another water problem, her laminate floor is starting to show water damage, the correction we’re going to do is above code but IMHO it should be code, then I called the bldg dept about my genset permit, guy said 8/15 I said it’s already been there 1 week is there a problem? He said No everything looks good, I said then why 2 more weeks? We’re getting ready for major storms and I have a new gen I can’t use!! He said Sorry 🤬🤬

Holy sheep shit that's filthy. They not using filters, or not changing them often enough?

AFA the building department, I'd hook it up and fuck 'em. they can come out and look at it after it's been running. Lazy cocksuckers.

Had to pull the bellhousing back off to install the new throwout bearing and clutch fork.
Reassembled everything and installed the oil pressure sender on the driver side above the oil filter boss.
I may have to move the sender because it looks like the headers could hit it.
Installed the mini-starter and proceeded to put everything in the car as an assembly.
Had to tilt it severely to get it in but barely made it
:)
Scraped the paint on the oil pan a little o_O

Nat gas guys won’t hook up till they have a Rough In inspec, I spoke with them today and understand they don’t want to jeopardize their license, I can hook up the portable but I gave a friend the 2 window ac’s I had that lives on his property outside Oldtown in an RV

After talking with Shovelrick and our my long time A/C installer and servicer our upstairs unit is scheduled for replacement after 21 years, not by choice but necessity.

At 10 PM Thursday night I was informed the upstairs was warm. After a few choice 4 letter words I went outside and found the fan not engaging so I got my big halogen light stand out and replaced the run capacitor, I learned to keep a spare. Well the unit turned on but short cycled, I knew this wasn't good. Figures it was 100 degrees that day.

The next day I called the HVAC company and they put me on the schedule. Shovelrick and I discussed the system, what I had found and we agreed the compressor was toast, my HVAC company found the same thing after testing.

We have ordered a new heat pump unit for the upstairs (air handler and outside unit) and are being worked into the schedule since ours is dead. Shovelrick looked at the quote and said it was a good deal and taking his advice to buy a unit now before the new mandated systems are marketed. We also are getting a basic system per recommendation, no need to have all of the garbage electronics that fail frequently.

Last night I slept with a window box fan, the wife slept in a recliner on the first floor in the A/C. I cannot sleep in a recliner.

The old Trane gave us a good run.

21 years is a good run. The unit did its' duty to God and Country. Assuming the first floor unit was installed at the same time, be prepared for replacing that unit in the next couple of years.
