Whole House Nat Gas Generators

I been working on the Tree Stumps All The Live Long Day LaLa, thought of calling El Cheapo Tree Service and saying I need my underground tree trimmed 😆 well I’m between 16” & 18” to top of 1.5” pipe so if an inspector turns it down I’m going to the variance board and raise Hell “I Live in Fucking Wood MF’n Lawn!!!” 🤣 Oh still got the gas line trench to do,Kathy said call the gas company,,,I might but thinking I’m this far why not get at the other trench? Except I’m putting work off by rescheduling some that aren’t 911’s

I need to figure a way to cut the pipe under that big underground branch, I don’t think nylon string will work because I don’t have enough room to run it back & forth, maybe my 1/4” air die grinder and small cut off shell? or Dremmel tool 👍😁

I don’t know how the NG gas contractor jetted the new gas line from the alley to the house but I’d sure like to know how to do my gas line like that, in the 80’s I water jetted 1/2” & 3/4” gray PVC lines under driveways for post lights etc so wonder since the gas line will be much smaller than elec I just did maybe try that? It’s not as long as elec about 8’-10’ then I can come up and run it on the side of the house

Using a 3/4" pvc with a hose connector on it should do the trick. Once opened up should be easy.
In 79 I worked for Autrys pipe line and we used a machine that ran on small rail road tracks called a Bore machine that used long auger bits inside the pipe, I set well points to pump water out of the ground then dug a large hole with a 580D orC backhoe to set the tracks down, hole was a good 50’ long and IIRC about 8’-10’ deep same for width, we pushed 20” water main casing under Starkey rd in 2 locations and ran Orange gas PVC pipe all around the same area, I was 19 yrs old the and the only thing that hurt was getting welding flash one night, I called the lead guy around 2-3am he said use thin sliced raw potatoes lay them on my eyelids and it’ll fix it after a while and it did, or it went away on its own lol

Sunburned your eyelids. Never did that, but I didn't wear my welding jacket because it was too hot and got arc burned all on my arms and that stung a bit and it all peeled.

I worked with the lead guy 7-4 then we worked till 12am sometimes later just to get OT, he had throat cancer and was trying to make as much $ as possible, he asked me to work with him on those weird hours and I needed the $ so I said sure, he let me drive that Case backhoe home & back to the job site many times since he knew at the time we only had 1 car, wife even showed up at the job site checking up on me 😆

Got the pipe covered up with 4 site tubes but stretched 2 a little farther apart than was told but Kathy walks between them to get to her wild kids feed area and she’s now a Trip & Fall Hazard waiting to happen, she fell in the bathroom a cpl days ago when I was showing her diff shower heads while I was at Wally World ( Face Time) and she wanted to see brand name on the shower head, I took lots of pics so inspector should be fine, next is mount the switch to the R of panel between it and window

I called Teco/People Gas to see about getting them to do the under ground gas line, my friend and ex boss Charlie was telling me there’s a machine his wife’s father or friend up north uses called if he remember right a Gopher that I think jets lines under ground so he’s going to check into that for me, me & him are installing a mini split 2 head system tomorrow in a house he sold so hope he can tell me about it tomorrow, my friend Drew that owns Salt & Light electric told me new code requires a separate main shut off before the electric panel main ( I built a new 200 amp service in IIRC ‘06 and it passed inspec with flying colors under a home owner permit, inspector said “You had Pro help didn’t you? I said I’ve been a member of the Pinellas county electrical workers association since 79 🙂) but this is some thing that’s new but Drew said Nick a city elec inspector said the auto trans switch is also a main disco so all good there, I might just have Drew and his helper do the hook up from the meter base to the auto switch, main panel I’m putting off too much work and a cpl people weren’t too happy so I know I’ve lost at least 2 customers over small repairs but potential large jobs later

Gotta do what you gotta do. I realize customers need service, but taking care of home comes first.

And I have General Kathy on my ass 😆 I’ve been telling them I’m tied up on another job, most people don’t understand you need to work on your own home to or think your own home you should drop what you’re doing and come repair their drain drip when they live 20-30 min away, oh and they say “it’s been dripping for awhile but now it’s worse and we need it fixed now” PS I let that cust. find someone else, another guy has a new ac but the installers did a shitty job and he wants me to fix this, I’ll post pic in a min, needs a heat shield behind the unit on the duct to make it mechanically fastened then reseal the entire plenum and guy will just think it needs RE taped lol

Really don’t want to dig anymore so guess I’ll call Teco/Peoples gas co to hire a contractor, no show was rec’d by 1 of the owners of Fla Boys const. co., seemed like a real nice guy when I first talked to him

this place built in 1940 keeps me too busy but oh well

My house in St Pete was built in the 40's too and I put a ton of work into it.
Almost all the houses on my block were built before 1920 and my old house was built in 1914. When I first moved to here (suburbs) from Jersey City there was an old woman,Florence from across the street that would call me over and tell me all about the history of the houses on our block.
Her husband Pete was a mechanical genius that designed his driveway with a roundabout, like they use with trains. He could drive straight down the driveway, get out then spin his car around so no reversing out of the driveway. Very smart man,I never got to meet him just would hear the stories from neighborhood people and of course his wife who needed someone to talk to as she was alone at this point in her life.
What does this have to do with your generator ? nothing really, just that her property has about 4 huge shade trees which this thread reminded me of talking with her. Thanks for letting me ramble.

Neighborhood historians are great in my opinion, I wish I knew more about our hood other than it once was Orange Groves before homes were built and oak trees planted all over
