2017 Ford Escape Battery

Who designed this mess? Who's dumb idea was it to place the battery pushed against the firewall making you have to take out the air cleaner and everything in front of it out to replace the battery?

What a dumb ass design. Lisa's Escape still had the original battery, so I decided to replace it before it shit the bed and left her stranded. Factory battery is an AGM, so I replaced it with O'Reilly's AGM with a 3 year non prorated warranty. Cost $239.

I'm surprised it's not underneath the car where you could Never find it, Easter Egg Hunt LOL, Fn Engineers and their Bright Ideas, at least it's not under the seat where it could do Bodily Harm

Just looked at the pic again, is that body ground the only means of ground? EDIT guess not All engineers are bad, my nephew is a Mechanical Engineer but I'm not sure he ever turn a wrench on anything LOL

Amazing how the Fusion's and Escapes are the same but because the Escape being an SUV they are so much more compact under the hoods.

Yeah, at the dealership level, we hate them too. There is a labor upcharge for those over a regular battery. And if its leaked at any time in the past and you have to remove the tray to pull the trans, well, that tech's life just got a little shittier.

Yeah, lifted the hood and you hear all the leaves and debris in the hood. WTF? I guess Ford was too cheap to put in air dams to stop that, or maybe just having them come back when a customer complains?

3 years ago it had a rattle underneath and Ford determined dirt / pebbles had gotten between the plastic underside and they ordered a new one. What ever happened to taking the plastic off, cleaning it out and reinstalling? I mean holy shit batman, how stupid is that?

Had a rattle under my red Fusion, I had to diagnose it for them. They added a tie strap and wrote up some BS warranty claim.
