She's been looking for a while for a "Sunset Orange Metallic" WS6 TransAm. We wanted a 6spd car, but couldn't find one at the right price and condition for us, so she settled for an automatic... I have almost everything needed to T56 swap it though, when the 4L60 inevitably turns into a powerglide with 3 neutrals.

This is one of 130 built SOM WS6 automatic coupes built in 2001 (1792 total SOM cars built in 2001-2002)

Looks great next to her "Ignition Orange Metallic" 2008 G8 GT (one of 927 total IOM G8s, about half of those GTs)

It's a GT, so it has a 6.0L LS. The GXPs were 6.2L
It's cammed and tuned, and has run 13.0 at 108mph, needs a better torque converter to get into the 12s.
I had no idea they built a 6.0L GT.
Cool.
Is that a cast iron or aluminum block ?

Aluminum block, square port LS3 style heads and intake.

The base G8 had a 3.6L V6, the GT had 6.0L V8, and the GXP had the 6.2L
Only 1829 GXPs were built

Sweet ride, both of them. So the GT is basically a 4 door GTO? Did they build any 6 speeds? Not sure about the GT, but the WS6 is well outfitted by the aftermarket, not that it needs much for the average Joe, or Joline.

The GXP that had the 6.2 and a lot of them had 6 speeds. It was a BMW killer. :)
I didn't know this :

The Pontiac G8 is a full-size sedan that was produced by Holden in Australia, and then exported to the United States,
where it was sold by Pontiac. The G8, a rebadged Holden Commodore, was released in early 2008 for the 2008 model year
in the United States, and in 2008 for the 2009 model year

The manual was ONLY available in the GXP, all GTs and bases were automatic.

1829 GXPs built, 846 were manual.

Manual GXPs never depreciated... still selling for more than they did new in 2009, which is why we don't have one. :D

I like the TA but I like the G8 better. Looks like a real sleeper that’ll hand you your lunch and do it in comfort.

The G8 is a way better car, no doubt... She's been driving that for about 7 years now, and it has been very good to us. Bought with 62k, and has 188k on it now. The only unexpected repair was a crank position sensor.

The WS6 is pretty much typical 90s GM quality, cheap interior... but it looks really cool, and she has wanted one since they were new.

Since the GXP had a 6 speed, the swap in an automatic GT should be fairly easy ?

If I keep finding good deals, this car is going be faster than mine! It's nice to finally run something that has a good used market for speed parts.

Just picked up some used 18x11 Apex wheels with 315/30 Falken RT660s off a friend's Camaro. Earlier this summer I got a full set of springs, shocks, and sway bars off an SCCA National Championship winning ESP Camaro... have yet to install those, and will lower it a couple inches when I do.

For pretty minimal expense, this will be a pretty potent autocross weapon...
