Office Space

The movie Office Space is a staple for IT people, even though it is an older movie all IT people can relate.

It always amazes me how deviant people think. Maybe it's just me, but I would never think to do anything like that. I guess it goes to show that there are alot of dark minds out there scheming on how to defraud people.

I wonder if a punishment of breaking all of his fingers would teach a lesson about doing this kind of thing?...Probably Not

I knew a girl who did this at the bank where she worked in the mid '80s. SAfter 2 years, she got caught, and her punishment... she was tasked to start the computer security dept for the bank that she stole from! I never heard about restitution, but she was IT before there was IT. At the time, her brilliance astounded us all.

Several years ago I managed a fab shop for a company after they fired the previous manager for stealing the scrap aluminum.

The stories employees would tell me about him always amazed me because I simply didn't think that way... forklift needs a new battery? Company buys one, he put it in his personal truck, then put his used one in the forklift. Tons of stories like that...

A friend does pretty well as a motorcycle mechanic in his own shop. He went through the sheetmetal apprenticeship just behind me and always worked the trade off and on while maintaining his side job. His favorite reason when he was about to return to work was "I'm getting low on supplies".

Up here similar stuff. The paper mill used to have a scrap pile that was free for employees to rummage through. Well the MW's & PF's would always clean out the shop at the end of the week & haul it to the scrap pile & after work they were at the scrap pile picking up what they wanted & haul it home. The scrap pile went away after prices went up & scrap was hauled away by a contractor.

Agreed, it takes a deviant mind to come up with these schemes. Mine can't fathom such evil.
