Site Spammers

We've had a rash of spammers try to join our site and I put some utilities in place to automate cleaning them up and rejecting them.

Wow, just looked. You ain't kidding about the spammers trying to join. When I get some time I will delete their disabled accounts.

I find it strange that, sometimes there are more "guests" than members on.

Many of those are bots indexing the site, but there are lurkers too.

I just noticed, it says 4 members,7 guests but, I only count 3 members?

Yep, it varies from time to time depending on the day and time of day. Mostly around early evenings the most members are on, and the rest of the time they are in and out all day.

Glad you guys know what you're doing. I'd suspect other sites may be nervous about old chevelles getting too much traction.

We're not worried about other sites and we aren't competing, but they may feel that way. I personally don't care what they think, and I think our site is the way it was meant to be with varied interests and free speech.

Back a few years ago I had 3500 spammers try to join our local site and wondered what was so special about our little car site? turns out they were all from china so I banned the main part of the IP address and all were gone after that. Bots and spammer this their so smart, but their not.
