Finally got my wheels!

I've been wanting these a long time. Kind of a throwback to the old Radir wheels from the 60s. I got 15x4.5 for the front, and 15x8 for the back. Summit was having a massive sale on them. After the 15% off Summit card 1st time discount, I'll only be out about 500 bucks. Although I'm a long way from being done with my resto, I just had to get them while the gettin was good.

Now all I gotta do is pick up a straight axle kit from Speedway Motors and I'll be set!

I like that they look different. These days everyone seem to have the same. We drove our 70 to a local car show this past weekend and more than half had the same wheels I have American Racing Torq Thrust). Im thinking of changing up but not sure to what yet.

Post up some pics when they are on !

Not sure if serious about the straight axle but it looks cool.
I like the wheels. Modern wheels just don’t look right on these cars IMO. My only thing is, I were to pay for new wheels I’d get at least 16 inch to give myself bigger brake options.

Check for tires before committing to wheels, I got a very good deal on nice used 17” AR TT II’s from a TC member but 17” tires are a little harder to find in Some cases, like no 295/55r17” in a Drag Radial but found 275/50 that I’m using or 305/45 that I thought wouldn’t fit

Yeah, I am seriously considering the straight axle if I can get a kit that doesn't require much frame fabrication. I've always loved the gasser look, and I'm not concerned with handling. I never took corners fast in it before anyway. I also plan on getting some Radir pie crust cheater slicks for it to complete the look.🙂

One of my uncles drag raced at Edgewater drag strip (Oh) a 55 Chevy 427 4spd and 62-63? Falcon vert 390 4 spd and both had Econoline straight axles, Bad Azz Street/Drag cars 👍🙂

That really pisses me off when they don't update their site and you order and no longer available. Sometimes I think they do that to get you in the door and when it's not available get you to buy something else.

That sucks!

Not only are parts too expensive but they are crappy too then this!

Yeah I agree guys. The only thing that pushed me over the edge to buy them was the awesome price. Now I know why they were so cheap... So I guess the wheels are out for now.

Check with TCI for a straight axle kit, a friend of mine that's also our vet buy front end kits from them and says they're very good quality and reasonably priced, he just put 1 of their rack & pinion kits under a 66 Chevy II Nova wagon, very nice IMO 7F7A3EE3-CCE0-4DDA-BC88-619A424839F0.JPG

You definitely don’t want 16’s as there are VERY few tire choices, hell, 17’s are getting thin.
