What would cause the float to deform after running out of gas and how to prevent it happening again other than Do Not Run Out of Gas 😂 carbs on a GM 350 crate engine in my friends 63 Chevy II Nova vert

The float is somewhat shaped like that in it's original state, creased in the center, but that's wickedly destroyed. Only thing that would do that is excessive fuel pressure, but it's hard to imagine. I'd say call holley, but they're not always that smart. What's fuel pump you running?
