..... SCRAP IRON ?
This is a long video and I haven't watched the whole video or read both of the whole articles that they have attached to the video's. There are a couple of articles that they used as part of the video's and I paused the video to read them but I wanted to post this before it got too late. However this is some irresponsible happenings if it really is China who's doing this. They were saying that th wrecks are too deep for low life scrap iron hunters to do it by themselves that they would need the help of deepwater working ships to remove these ships from their resting places.

This is what happens when you deal with scumbags that don't care about anyone but their own sacred sites. All of this shit could have been avoided except some low life politicians and unscrupulous business people who value money more than a healthy workforce and who started this way back in the mid 80's.
I really hate the scum that started sending their work offshore and cutting people's jobs. I try to refuse to deal with them as much as its possible in this day and age but it ain't easy.

Anyway this is the above video that caused me to post this .

I could be wrong but didn't Clintons NAFTA start all the Offshore business? Also you'd think the iron in these War Ships or Sailors Tombs would be too far gone to be recycled,,?

I have a feeling they're using that steel for a certain purpose as that vintage steel may be a much better compound than the stuff that's in use today. I might not be right about it but I'll bet they're targeting the thick cannons and the armor the most. While the other stuff isn't thrown away the better heavier pieces might be being used in whatever their greedy squinted eyes are fixated on.

Pilfering of underwater heritage has been rampant for decades. Bob Ballard was so upset by the treatment of Titanic that when he located and filmed the Bismarck, he kept the location a secret. Clive Cussler was heavily criticized by archaeologists because he would make a big production of searching for a particular wreck site, make the location public, and then walk away. When I was in the Marshalls 25 years ago, stripping of wrecks by members of the military stationed on Kwajalein was a huge problem. It was something the military could have prevented but chose not to. Similar thing in Truk. Locals were stripping the wrecks for munitions and stuff to sell back then and had been doing that for decades. Back in the 70s, Peter Benchley (Jaws) spent time in the Turks and Caicos recovering a bunch of exploration era wreck stuff, and then tossing it on the beach and moving on. The thrill of the hunt is huge but it takes a lot of organization and funding to make sure the recovered items don’t dry up and blow away.

There are a lot of people working hard to slow this stuff down but it takes a lot of coordination between governments which is sometimes lacking. I have mixed feelings over it. On the one hand I’ve been an archaeologist for 35 years and I’d like to see a lot of this stuff in a museum where we can all enjoy and learn from it but on the other hand the libertarian in me sees no issue with a responsible recovery and preservation by private parties. The Arabia museum in KC is a perfect example of this.
