WTH? Distributor keeps getting loose SBC 350!

This is getting to be ridiculous.
For some reason the distributor clamp on my truck seems to lose its hold on the distributor.
Then I lose timing and have to reset it.
I have tried three different clamps with the same result.
The stud does not appear to be pulling out of the intake.
Suggestions?

That sounds nuts. Having the thin gasket and spec'd shaft freeplay would be 2 things to look at. YoS can check freeplay by pulling the dist. and use a feeler gauge between the large shim and the gear, should be a min. of .011 and max of .015. Chevy was pretty crude with that. Shim kits are readily available. The large solid hold-downs are my preference , and always hated the .010 wire type.

Maybe a lockwasher over the clamp would keep it from rotating ?

Since you have a stud have you tried a new flat washer, lock washer, & nut? maybe a dab of loctite on it, use to help keep my Shovelhead nuts & bolts clamped down
