2003 Mercedes E320

If he didn't order the GM kit to rewire it, tell him to get it. I didn't buy it and it took me the better part of a month to wire it from scratch. Not sure they still offer it though.

Ok Kevin, the stupid car did not act up at the dealer and in discussions with my wife we are going to get rid of it because it is unsafe to drive.

Long story short they checked it out, wanted to sell me a secondary battery, was braking fine, I declined the battery. Then they had a $5000 list of other recommended repairs. I also said it lost power when the brakes failed, they felt it and thinks it is the transmission, $800 to check it out. I told them I will pay the checkout fee and trailer it home and send it on its way. I would like to recoup the check out fee. I wonder what a junkyard would give me for it?

With title and if it's complete, $250 to $300.
I will definitely check around. If too little I will cut the cats off, pull good electronics off to sell and wheels and tires.

Junked a Pathfinder once, pulled the engine and sold it but I don't think there would be a market for the engine even though it runs good.

Being a mercedes, most people don't go to boneyards for parts, they go to the stealer. I'd call around and ask what they give for complete versus missing parts.

I am going to check with LKQ Pick a Part, these things tend to get stripped pretty good.

Sorry to hear that this saga has come to this. If these cars have an electrical gremlin, it’s almost cost prohibitive to get them worked on. It’s be one thing if they could confidently guarantee it’s fixed but when they want to just throw thousands of dollars of parts at it and pray one of them accidentally fixes the problem, it’s time to give up.

I had a hand me down BMW 740i. It was older but it ran well. Commuted long distance in that thing. It ate a lot of gas but was a tank. It was the exact same appearing car to the one that Tupac or Biggie got murdered in in Las Vegas, so it was pretty nice in its time.
One day it died. I limped it home going 20
mph max and dying several times on the way. I made no effort to have it checked out because I knew that a guy who works on BMW was gonna charge me several fold what the car was worth. Sold it to a your car guy who said he wanted to fix it and drove it. Everyone once in a while I regret trying to get it fixed.

The local fall consignment auction is going on in November, I think I will take it there because it will bring more money than a scrap yard and TBH someone may be able to fix it if they have the tools. The brake system is covered to 2027 but my concern is the brakes have failed and if they fail again it could result in an accident or worse. Also, I am tired of fixing stuff on it.
