Alternator Question

Shop Foreman
I bought a reman GM 1 wire alternator for the tractor. My battery is going dead after sitting, the draw stops when I remove the pigtail connector. Everything is routed properly, is it possible the alternator is causing a drain on the battery?

If this is regards to the last pic you posted with the new alternator, it's not a 1 wire.

Typically a 1 wire only gets excited when it starts spinning, but from the wires I saw, you had the convention 2 wire GM plug that ties to the ignition so as soon as the ignition is turned it it excites the alternator.

Unplug that plug (not the wire on the post) and I'll bet the drain stops. If my suspicions are correct, you can tie that to your ignition (hot when turned on) and it'll work as intended.

the #2 wire is grounded, the other wire on the pigtail goes to the Ammeter, the main wire goes to the starter.
I have put a test light in line with the battery, disconnected all of the ign switch wires, draw still there. Draw only goes away taking the pigtail wire off.

Disconnect #2 wire on the plug. Then disconnect #1 wire check for draw. If no draw, then connect #1 to + battery side and if there's a draw, then that's your switched leg (turns on with ignition).

We do in Florida. We use 10x10 screening that stops them, but you pay extra. They get Lisa all the time.
What's 10 x 10 screen? They don't hardly bite my wife but they love me, feels almost like touching your skin with a lit cig. & I welt up like crazy from them.

No seeum screen is typically 20 x 20, but you can ask the screening guys for smaller, but it costs a bunch more.
