RIP Jim McFarland

What a guy :
McFarland (as editor for Hot Rod in 1966) :

"We got an early release '67 Camaro from Chevrolet after Motor Trend had done its story," McFarland later recalled. "We did our tests too, but I suggested that we
could help Chevrolet cement a relationship with the high-performance community by circulating it around the performance parts tooling manufacturers to use as
a test mule for making hard parts.
This gave the manufacturers a 10-month jump, so when the car was released, a dozen manufacturers had performance parts ready to go for the new car."

11-second elapsed times on a quarter-mile dragstrip.
