Drano (sodium hydroxide) is the ticket for removing anodizing

Same as Easy Off, probably stronger. At work we had 50% caustic it had to be heated because it freezes below 60 deg. Pretty nasty stuff melts fat real quick.

I decided I wanted to wet sand to 3k grit before polishing and I think it helped a little. I like the paper. For a very fine grit it seemed to produce a lot of black water when wet sanding so I think it’s doing its job.

After light polishing on a 6 inch wheel white white compound on the bench grinder:

The black is from the aluminum itself. I like dura gold myself. I use their DA discs and air board cuts.
