What’s your experience with trim polishing?

I decided I wanted to wet sand to 3k grit before polishing and I think it helped a little. I like the paper. For a very fine grit it seemed to produce a lot of black water when wet sanding so I think it’s doing its job.

After light polishing on a 6 inch wheel white white compound on the bench grinder:
