Truck market, New vs. Used

I actually like the Gray one better but I think in severe weather the Red truck would be a lot easier to see

White trucks rule. :giggle:
I really don't like white, mostly because I keep my junk too long, and white looks terrible when the rust starts to show.

My enclosed trailer is gray, so that would really look sharp when hooked up. The gray one is 5k cheaper and has pretty much the same features as my current truck so going "cheap" isn't a downgrade either...

First brand new car I bought was a '84 Ford Escort 4speed stick, and it was $5,500 out the door. Bet that same car would be $20k plus in these times. Stupid.

I'll say up until 2017 (including Lisa's Escape) I've had at least 25 new vehicles ranging from cars to SUV's (full size), and trucks.

Longest I ever kept was Lisa's at 6 years (now). Most I only kept 1 to 2 years. Most I was able to write off as company expense so I didn't care. Never leased a car though.

I have to pat myself on the back a bit here... truck is officially paid off today!

We took delivery on March 1st 2024 and I set a goal of paying it off by January 1st, but missed that by a bit. Paid off 4 days short of 1-year of ownership...

Now, we get more serious about shopping for a replacement for Jenna's car.

And proud you should be! Fiscal responsibility is no longer a bad word in America. Keep your money for youself and be an example for your kids as to how to chart a course thru life. I pay extra on my '24 GT every month, some months more than others.
I still hate you for that'68 Chevelle though... :)

Yes, but Derek has kids, land, a house, muitiple hobbies and vehicles... but he DOES have one thing that I lacked when I was married, a consistent, well earning wife! If mine had stayed on the track that she was on for the first 10 years we were married, I'd have been on easy street a long time ago.

I'm afraid I know that all too well. During my first marriage my ex seemed to think there was an endless supply of money and spent like it too. Even after we separated she still kept spending on the credit cards and drove me into bankruptcy. Rotten bitch. Hmmmm, I said that out loud, didn't I?

It might be for sale in about a year. I want to have fun with it for a summer, then probably sell and start putting real money and effort into restoring my 69 SS, and a really good drivetrain for the '55.

I'm going to try to de-stress a little, and too many unfinished projects gets me worked up at times.

I just dropped off my 2000 Excursion at the dealer for an old recall to be done. Wife and I talked to my buddy and asked about an F250 on the lot, itt is a 2024 diesel. Out the door price $74K with a $1200 per month payment. We are not able to do that, but we were just wondering. Fixing the Excursions is a lot cheaper.

For the daughter we asked about a 2012 Escape on the lot, 248,000 miles, super clean for $3900. It is in really good shape but too many miles for what I am looking for.

We found out my ex had opened 4 credit cards in my name, had even signed my name and which all of them were past due. We wouldn't have known except Lisa and I went to buy our first house together and all this shit was on my credit report.

Took hiring an attorney to go after the credit card companies, and Lisa threatened my ex with an arrest and jail time if she didn't call the credit card companies and tell them she'd committed fraud. To say the least she was in trouble. Don't know how she got herself out of that mess, but my credit was cleared in less than a month. The attorney was cool about it (he'd also been my divorce attorney) and only charged me $100 for his secretary to handle all the letter writing and contact with the credit card companies.
