End of 2023 RV Trip to Gulf Shores, AL

While Northern RVs are tucked away for the winter, ours is getting ready for a trip. We are leaving on Monday, Christmas Day afternoon heading for Gulf Shores, AL for the week. Making our first stop at a Loves RV Center on the GA/AL line.

Always thought an RV trip would be fun - but when I suggested it to my wife she laughingly replied "Let me know your destination so I can meet you there." Actually, a solo trip could be fun too!

It will be just fine. Drove it 100 miles yesterday, smoother and more power. Trip meter said I was getting 22.3 MPG. Cold start it is smooth too, no stiction.

Almost to Alabama, overnighting at a Loves RV Center in GA not far from the HUGE KIA plant. Some of the Loves truck stops now have RV sites.

Driving through Atlanta, in the rain, in the dark, towing an RV is quite an experience, So much for no traffic on Christmas, I-85 was packed but fortunately it kept moving.

Here are pictures of the Loves RV hook up area. We felt safe here and Hardee's is a short walk. Getting ready to head South.

Rest stops down by us in Florida have roving security, but I'm not sure I'd stay at one.

Made it to Gulf Shores AL, 715 miles. Weather is cool and still cloudy. Our site is not on the water but is a very nice pull through.

We have been out and about the past few days. We visited Fort Morgan in the point of Mobile Bay, took a ferry from Fort Morgan to Dauphin Island, Al and visited the USS Alabama site in Mobile.

Engine Room (I think). It was way below deck and near the ammunition lifts. I was able to look down and see at least 3 levels below this.
