The Greaseman show in the 1990s was awesome, DC drivetime was dominated by his talent and stories, many are available still on You Tube and other sires. To understand the Greaseman you have to understand he used words not regulated by the FCC to tell his stories and pushed everything to the edge, pure 1980's style. I understand that not everyone likes raunchy and obscure humor and DC101 knew that too but those of us that still remember his shows use that lingo when talking to another fan
I was an intern at a DC law firm next door to the DC-101 broadcast studios when he made his final, fatal remark. 1986 was the first MLK Day and he said "Kill one black get the day off, kill 4 more get the whole week off". You can imagine that it was not well received, but unlike today there were no riots, there were protests and the Greaseman was put out of a job.
The Greaseman archives are here. Now, listening to just one will not entertain you because of the lingo used like Hobble, whisker biscuit, bearded clam, one eyed viper, hobble de gi, hobble de gaga and hobble di go. The 1970s and 1980s were definitely a different time when people could laugh at things but there was a line that was drawn. There are no more "shock jocks" like him.
