I didn’t watch the vid, YetThe Zeros would have no chance against one F-15. The F-15 can do 1,650 MPH, while ther Zeros topped out at 351 MPH. One pass at over Mach 1 with the F-15 would cause the Zeros to spiral out of control from the jet wash. The video showed that the single F-15 could have taken out all 5 carriers, which would leave the Japs with no aircraft to attack Pearl Harbor.
I suppose it'd be possible, but given the current technology at the time, a coordinated attack from an F 15 would require advance warning. Taking off after the attack started wouldn't yield promising results. While possible, the stars would have to align perfectly for 1 F 15 to thwart the attack.
I think that the Japs would lose very quickly. They had no weapons that would be able to stop the F-15, and they would be so shocked at seeing it that they would probably freeze in their tracks. I wish that they had taken the movie The Final Countdown and allowed the F-14s to attack the Japs.
Wasn't there a movie like this in the 80s... whole aircraft carrier went back in time.
I think the thing you aren't considering is what the japs had was sheer numbers in aircraft. Despite the F15 being able to literally fly circles around the zeros, strafing fire from a number of zeros is not something the F15 would be able to avoid. There are only so many missiles an F15 can carry, so eventually it'd lead to a dogfight.
The only way the attack on pearl harbor could have been thwarted is if the F15 had advance knowledge of the carriers position and to disable / destroy them before the zeros had a chance to take off. Again, given the technology at the time, that'd have been tough to accomplish. Had expeditionary planes been out and surveying the surrounding areas, it would have been entirely possible to avoid.
