Do they always die a violent death or am I not spot, I'd have thought a 22 between the eyes should do it.

I look at it like a 22 is good for squirrels, but unless you hit them right it could bounce around inside their skulls for a bit. Their brain is about the size of a cat or rabbit's brain so it ain't that big.

Maybe they just like to take a dramatic exit. When we used to butcher a 22 short would a small cow down in the blink on an eye, between the eyes & down sometimes not even a twitch.

Will the wife let you whack coons? I thought she didn't like the idea of squirrel shooting.
Try these.

I pretty much told they are going down cause I don't want em around.
She doesn't like to kill anything, although she shot a partridge once.
Those stingers might do a better job. I should try the 22 Hornet, that would work.

Try to keep it somewhat low key so the crazy Chihuahuas don't get too revved up, the little black one goes to vibration mode when she hears a gun.
If you can install/clamp about a 10 inch piece of garden hose on the muzzle your ears won't believe it. You didn't "hear" that trick from me. 🤠

I was under a friends house 25 or so yrs ago to do some duct repairs and found why she needed duct repair, a Raccoon was about 12’-15’ away from me hissing so I reversed my ass out of there, went inside and told her what was under the house, she said I have a rifle will you shoot it? I said get the rifle, it was a 22 but I don’t remember if it was a bullet or bird shot but 1 shot in the hissing face and it was Lights Out, I pulled it out with a garden hoe I was worried of getting bit in case it was still alive, put it in a trash bag and she dealt with it from there

You can't relocate a coon. They will come back & bring all their friends with them. My farmer traps them & the shoots them.
Then relocates them to the hedge row for Coyote food so he can shoot those fuckers to.
