Building the sub-assemblies for my first DIY TH400 trans: just completed the Sonnax Smart-Tech Drum module, (lots of photos).

For those of you who might be interested. Just thought I'd post some photos of the various parts of these TH400 drag racing internals that I've started on. This Sonnax Smart Tech drum is intended by the manufacture for drag race builds in the 500HP to 3,500 HP range, which do NOT use the...

Maybe not new, but new to me: Three mounting bolt mini-starters

I just bought one of these. I like the idea of a mini-starter actually using all three mounting holes of the engine block just like the OEM starters do. I'm sure it will keep the starter more stable during operation, and having some added bulk to aluminum mounting block can't be a bad thing...

Does this ring on a TH400/4L80 trans output planet carrier press-off?

I'm not sure what type of Trans this carrier came from or was for? It has a 5 pinion gear design. And it was sold to me by ATI Racing as being for a TH400 and having a OE 2.48, 1.48, 1.00 ratio. AFAIK there weren't any TH400 from GM that came with anything other than 4 pinion designs. Can this...
