So far it's been a struggle getting parts (and very expensive when I could locate them), but I just got the car on the lift to find a leaking oil mess that's been going on for years. I just started scraping the buildup off and let me tell you, it's tedious slow going.

I will say I'm ever so happy there is no rust on the underside which makes it all worthwhile, but I also see loads of pinholes in the exhaust system, so there's another thing added to the list.

Be careful, the body will be off the frame before you know it. Been there done that!

I can't do that.... can't buy many of the parts, so I have to be very careful. As it is, the driver's side trans mount is bad and the engine is leaning to the left, and I can't find one.

I was told I may have to send it in and have them remold it, but not even sure who does that.

I figure worst case scenario, I'll fab one out of steel and not worry too much about vibration.

Check with Energy Suspension they might have one that fits but will be Poly, is the plan fix only what's needed and Enjoy?

But the "while I am in there" phrase can be very tempting and expensive. I went to clean up a firewall and the next thing I knew the frame was out being blasted.

Right now is to get it road ready, everything working, and safe, drive it some, then shoot some paint at some point.

I've got 3.5k into it in parts already, and it just keeps growing, so I want to clean it, fix it, and start enjoying it.

Already did that with the timing chain.... since I already have to helicoil the timing cover while it's off, MAW just replace the timing chain and gears. '64 they started using nylon gears, so I wanted to check them anyways, so I'm just replacing them.

Kevin are you putting a steel set back on (y)or nylon tooth ?(n) I know they're supposedly quite but I don't like them myself

Buick and Olds the same timing set up?

Not sure, but I don't believe Buick had the 394 Ultra High Compression engine (10.5:1). From the factory it was 345 hp with 441 ft lbs of torque, so she should move nicely when enticed.

Right now I'm just trying to fix what's been leaking for years and get all the grime off. I already rebuilt the carb and fuel pump and got her running and she ran good, but I'm still going through the entire car first before I put her on the road.

I would definitely not disassemble that car for paint. I don't think you are planning on an expensive paint job.
Sunk over 20k in my Chevelle's paint. The 68 Camaro is going to get a decent "no-disassembly" paint job !

Nope, but I do have some sheet metal to straighten. Got some dents and dings that I'll work out (don't like using filler too much), but she'll get a decent paint job (I'll shoot it myself).

Let me know what guns to use. I assume you're going basecoat/clearcoat ? I'm sure there are others on here with good recommendations for paint guns.
I'm definitely going to spray my Camaro.

Yes, Jerry mentioned what he was using in your thread, so it's time I bought a new set and I'll buy 2 of the Iwata LPH400 (I use dedicated guns separately for base and clear).

Since they are $500, I think I'll clean mine between primer, base and clear. LOL
