Brought this seat to my upholstery guy today. My goal with this car is to fix stuff that'll bring it back to oem as best I can, without doing a complete restoration. It is somewhat of a survivor with only routine maintainance. So far over the past couple months I've fixed the rust in the lower fenders, lower back window and a couple holes in the trunk. Replaced both cracked exhaust manifolds and added dual exhaust. Rebuild front end, and rear bushings, springs and added 1 1/8" front sway bar and rear bar. Upgraded to power disc brakes. I also repainted the front grill and added repop T3 lights. So the theme to this is to not sacrifice the original look and feel of the car but I will, and did, add period wheels/tires and pioneer supertuner.
The seat only needs lower foam, a couple busted springs replaced and the insert vinyl replaced.....reusing the pleated, ribbed inserts. I'm thinking this is the best approach to match the other mint condition upholstery. Will update when it's back from the seat magician.
