Looks a bit funky, but I assume they would put a sidewall on it? They said it's build on the rim, but I'm wondering if they will make it like a conventional tire that can be mounted on any rim.

That is old news. That thing came out like 3 years ago (or longer).

Implement airless tires have been around for at least 5 years. I'd bet the technology isn't available that would make them cost effective for high mileage road apps.
