Porting a SBC Victor Jr.

So I have this NOS old school Eddy Vic Jr. and they are not worth much these days and I have always wanted to port one to see if I can make it work better. I have not had much luck in the past with this intake but for the $50 I have in it if it does not work I am not out much. I think you guys know what a stock one looks like here is part 1 of the work done. Testing will be next year late but on the 358 we will see if the ported one is better over my Air Gap plenum cut out intake.

Aren't these the preferred intake for 4-8k rpm? I chose this one for my 302 in a man trans 2500lb car, but went light on the cam and not that impresssed with the engine....so far.

What's the specs on the 302? they are a pretty high revving engine and need a lot of gear.

I have a Vic jr on my 421. Eric W. ported it. Can't believe how small the CS is on those thing stock.
I picked up a RPM spread bore might give it a try some day.

The runners now are better than the out of the box intakes. Only thing I do not like about Eddy single plane intakes are the flat floors so you need to add a spacer or two to stop the upset of air and fuel bouncing around on it. I might add some roughness to the floor to help with that. Like you sig!

Reason I want to try the RPM, maybe it will bring the tq. lower in the rpm range. I'm making peak tq. at 4800 & I've seen dyno test on 421's with a rpm/air & they were under 4K peak torque.

I'll look it up this evening....off the top of my head I ran 10.25cr forged and ProMaxx 180 alum heads, sft and if memory serves 238/485 on a 110cl. Sold the vega but the engine I kept.

238/248 and 480/500 for cam specs. Not sure I needed the heavy split with those heads and I bought 5/16 pushrods. I certainly haven't spent enough time wringing this one out, and haven't found another body so it'll have to sit for now.

That's a pretty small cam for a 302, it will need more for sure to get the most out of that little engine and I think the cam will need to be on a 106 or tighter LCA.
