What’d you work on today?

I’m back on my phone, streaming services only working in 1 room along with WWW that’s off main router, aux routers aren’t working right Humm guess it’s something to figure out tomorrow

Since before New Year my internet has been working like Shit, can’t open my acct on this site and I’ve ordered numerous parts over the years when I can’t get them local, Damn thing just keeps doing the Spinning thing like can’t connect

It may not be your internet. When was the last time you cleared the cache/cookies in your web browser? Those can get corrupted and cause issues with websites. And if you suspect your internet is the problem, power cycle your modem and router (unplug/power off both, then power on your modem and wait until it is fully connected, then power your router back on).

Kathy’s watching a Netflix movie in the living room, I’ll do this in the morning before she gets up 👍🙂 she’s watching Black Klansmen 😂

This has been stuck in the bedroom since last night, Equilizer 3 PS I hate it when a good movie stops 15-20 min before the ending

How big of a job was it? I’ve done it on a Honda accord many years ago. Do you need any special tools? For a first time, how long does it take?
No specific tools but you will need to remove the motor mount on the rh side. To do this take the mount off the frame and then remove the 3 bolts on the engine. The top 2, easy. The lower one I took a 4' pry bar and lifted the engine so my son could remove the last bolt.

You will need to change the oil also. It wasn't a terrible job, ice done way worse. I did have access to a 2 post lift and would not like to do it on the ground but could. The sprocket bolts on the cams are TTY so you have to replace.

I used cloyes parts and a fel pro gasket for the cover. I re used the valve cover gasket.

Took 5 hours but we were definitely not rushing it. It's not hard but I wanted the balance and timing chains in time so we both verified a few times.

You will need a torque wrench - both in/lb and ft/lbs.

Is there a gear to gear replacement? I have a MC with cam chains and was thinking about putting G to G in there

Yeah, if a cable is where it can get kicked, it can get damaged. But they usually are 100% dead, not partially dead
I have had after hours calls from our NOC when a circuit is down to check a cable. If the cable is not disturbed it does not go bad. I have finally broken them of that habit. The issue is almost 95% of the time a cut somewhere in the world (carrier issue) or a weak/burned out SFP on the transmit or receive end.

Either cut fiber or transmitter/receiver issues, and of those, 90% are transmitter/receiver issues. Rarely will there be cut or disturbed lines. I've dealt with those issues for 25+ years. Client calls up and says no internet and I tell them to call the provider.

Only twice in 25+ years has it been equipment failure on the client side.

Agreed, very rarely is it our equipment. We do get SFPs internally with light issues usually due to age.

Pulled the body off today, cleaned a bit, pleasantly surprised on the metal condition and all around soundness......this should be fun. I may save the fuel tank just because it's respectful to save shit, vs just replacing the loyal part.

Looks like your Vette was a garage queen ! Zero rust on that frame

Not really, I had no reason to believe this by the condition of the car, but the owner who bought it in '70, then sold it in '2015, said he'd never garaged it and used it as his daily, which really had me questioning his sanity. He's a retired fire chief and it spent all that time on the Oregon coast, which usually means the salt air gets 'em.

Replaced a heater kit in a realtors personal home that I do a lot of work for, RHEEM systems I don’t do a lot of work on so yesterday when I called the local RHEEM dist and gave them model & serial numbers guy said yes we have 10KW heat kits in stock $133 after tax so I said on my way, today I go out to almost Skyway bridge to put the heat kit in and circuit board plug is different so I call RHEEM and guy says Oh I’m Sorry I forgot to give you the plug adapter you need, 🤬 so I lost an hour going back for it but home owners are happy now that they have heat, original installer told them it was only an AC system WO heat, it had a heat kit in it but it was bad and not hooked up to low voltage, I first tried hooking it up yesterday but it was blowing fuses so I told the guy I could spend time figuring out what part was bad but you’re better of with just replacing the heat kit since I’m not marking anything up ( He gets me some nice jobs 👍🙂)
