What’d you work on today?

Replaced the trailer 7 way connector on the Durango.

Replaced Right headlamp bulb in Mercedes, it is going to require more work because of dang degradable wires. Mercedes has the idea that biodegradable wires are needed and the insulation degrades in use.

Broke the Satoh's grill header using the tractor to remove a huge wooden box from the trailer, I can glue it back together and right now I have it soaking to make sure it is clean.

Went to a clogged ac drain issue today, had to wait for the people to move a mountain of clothes to get to the closet to work 😒

Got a text from an older couple from NY state that have a winter condo here, I went there and looked over replacing a furnace and thru wall ac unit, another contractor had started the job and was told it had to be done before they went back to NY (2 weeks) guy said No Problem, we’ll he didn’t get it done in time and they said they were leaving in a day or so, he wanted to be payed but wasn’t done and no working heat or ac, they said Not paying till it’s finished and we won’t be back till ?? (I don’t remember date) so the guy took everything out and the older man had to put a piece of 26”x60” plywood in the open hole in the bldg, I gave them 2 bids, 1 for a standard speed furnace and 1 for a variable speed, they decided to go with another company that 2 other neighbors have used, I also told the owner of the ABNB on St Pete beach it would be anywhere from $4 to $6K to fix the mess the other mini split contractor left so he contacted that cont. and threatened to Sue him so that guys going back to supposedly fix everything lol, Mondays usually Suck haha, here’s a pic of the Empty furnace closet owner had to cap the Nat Gas line, Exh vent pipe I didn’t think to take a pic of his plywood job but he did it very well even used chaulk

Pulled 4 Cond, 6 GA. Romex through 1.25" conduit for about 80'.
So in a day or two my buddy will have his hot-tub running.
I'm sure the power company will be pleased.

If you didn't take the outside covering off of the wires in the conduit (the Romex sheath), then the conductors have to be derated. I hope it isn't getting inspected, or the inspector might turn it down.

Like I said, that's alot of power for a hot tub. Surprised he's not using a heat pump heater for the water. It's gonna get mighty expensive.
About a year and half ago I helped a good friend wire his new hot tub/swim spa that also needed #6 wire X 3, 2 wires for the 240 volt, 1 for Neutral and 1 #8 for ground and it required a GFCI 50 amp breaker, I told him to buy THHN stranded wire to make it easier to pull through the PVC conduit but I forget what size conduit I had him buy, I bet that romex was a bitch pulling through conduit, I have a Qt size wire pulling lube I use

I've never pulled romex though a conduit (metal or pvc). I only pull THHN when running in conduit. Some people seem to think pulling a larger romex through a conduit is easier because it's already wrapped, but that couldn't be farther from the truth. Way easier to pull THHN.

Brian used to install these for his living years ago.
He says the GFCI 50 amp breakers did not used to be required but are now.
House will be up for sale later in the year and he is being careful to meet code.

Changed oil in my 3500. Got some other things I need to do, rear bumper cover needs to be changed, should change brake fluid, & should change PS fluid.

Sheathed romex inside conduit is against National code IIRC, so is NM wire but it use to be ok and I really don’t know what the big deal is? Actually don’t remember the reason it’s against code but I got a correction notice over it 12+ yrs ago

But anything building related is Crazy expensive now, pre Vid 19 a 20 amp Square D dbl pole breaker was $15-$16 bucks, a cpl days ago I paid $42 and change

I just put the fuel tank back in Dan's 65 after adjusting the sending unit to read properly, and replacing the seals to try to solve a leak when the tank was full. Next up, I am redoing all the wiring to the pump with 12ga wire. Whoever wired this used what looks like 16ga, and they wired it right to keyed power without any safety built in to shut fuel off in case of ruptured or disconnected line.

I haven't dug into that yet, but I'd bet the Holley Terminator can do that. I know some OEMs triggered it off oil pressure... really trying to make this as safe and reliable as I can for Cathy. They also ran the electric fans off keyed power. No thermostatic switch at all...

What’s the quick and dirty on getting the fuel gauge to read correctly? In the truck it reads pretty full when it’s half full. Thanks

It's a Tanks Inc universal unit that wasn't set properly for the depth of the tank.
I have dual Efans and 1 is powered by the fuse box IGN spade to a relay, other fan is on an adjustable temp sensor with relay, is the fan on IGN a bad idea? it's on it's own 25 amp fuse, other fan has it's own 25 A fuse too
