What’d you work on today?

good to see that new slab being well seasoned. Sidenote......walking into the sights and smells of a well used shop is a bit cathartic. If I ever built the shop of my dreams, I'd dedicate one walled off bay with furnishings to include wood work benches all 3 sides, peg boards, wood slat walls, and a single incandescent hanging bulb direct center of the engine bay target. Well concealed led lighting between ceiling "clouds" would make it usable, the incandescent would be used for those after work appreciation nights.

I feel most at home and comfortable surrounded by my tools and projects. Like some who feel best when they have their favorite chair or spot, mine is amongst my tools and projects where I feel the greatest sense of accomplishment.

I'd fought back and forth with the idea of dedicating bay 1 as a spray booth, but have since resolved that it would be the best use of space, and as far as the slab being well seasoned, once Lisa goes through all the boxes and we donate what we don't need, I'll commence to shifting things to the front and sides of the shop to epoxy the floors. I'm a stickler for clean floors and at my last house i used a mop regularly to clean the floors. I do not like tracking grease and dirt everywhere and being OCD, it bothers me immensely to have a dirty floor.

Sloped and canted corners for the slab, towards the roll-ups , a local hose bib and a trench drain just outside makes everything better again

Went to an ac job my friend and coworker did in 2021 (he’s on his honeymoon with his new bride on the Big Island) that’s having a no cool issue, she’s already had another high end ac company out there a cpl days ago but they didn’t want to deal with repairing with parts under warranty??? I don’t get that but whatever, tech said it has a Freon leak and needed a new TXV ( thermal expansion valve) I spent about an hour diagnosing and agree on the bad TXV, found the leak and fixed it, going back tomorrow with the new warranty part to remove Freon , change part, evac and recharge, more pics tomorrow then to Live Oak Animal Hosp to see why 1 of my units installed a cpl years ago isn’t cooling

I left out the leak was at the pic of larger shipping/service valve not being open seated and caps only being finger tight

Pretty mundane day.
Planted all the peppers, squash, melons and tomatoes.
Did a LOT of potato sets yesterday.
This nearly guarantees a hard freeze no matter what the weather report says.
I also put a screened awning over the raised bed garden where the peppers and tomatoes are.
Our Nevada sun is too brutal for them until they mature a bit.
Thinking of putting another mesh awning over the blackberry vines, they can go from almost ripe to raisins in one day.

Here’s a repair I wasn’t sure about another ac company diag but after a cpl hours testing I sheeted bad TXV, replaced TXV now see oil dripping out of evap coil Not Good so going to blow nitro through it and see what happens

Going to replace evap, I’m sure it’s clogged can’t hardly feel my 300 psi nitro coming through

Started looking at the Honda Saturday. Boy69 and I went out and got it up on stands and started looking for the cause of the drivetrain shaking. Checked the motor mounts, found one loose and one broken. The rear takes the brunt of hard shifts etc. Ordered replacements for all three. I think that’s a symptom rather than the cause. Noticed that the front fender door gaps are opening on both sides despite the doors closing well and the fender bolts tight. I’ll have to see what that’s all about. It very well be that the body is worn out. These were never meant to have big sticky tires and stiff racing suspensions And have a tendency to come apart

Started and finished framing out Makar Mart (aka pantry storage). Tomorrow I'll skin the tops of the shelves with 1/2" whitewood plywood (sanded and preprimed), and the undersides of the shelves with 1/4" lauan, then face it with 3/4" whitewood plywood.

After that's done it'll all get primed then painted with pure white satin cabinet coat, then Lisa can get all the rest of the food out of the shop and restock Makar Mart. The open space to the left is for a brand new (already purchased and sitting in the shop) upright self defrosting freezer (we already have the matching one next to the washer and dryer setup). Lisa dislikes chest freezers and going digging for stuff.
