Awesome Original 1967 L78 Chevelle!

Cool '67. Makes me wonder how bad that interior was to need the new stuff. Oem '67 door panels are so sweet, and the repops just don't sit well with me. I wonder if SMS makes these? If they did, it'd be worth the money.

It's a shame GM wouldn't install the 427 in 67-69 Chevelles.
I had a friend who was the original owner of a L78 SS396 69 Camaro.
Within one year of buying it, he had swapped in a 427.

I was trying to refrain from this, but I can't function until it's out..... PGN just reminds me of a used car salesman and I avoid his blather but make exceptions when the car is super cool.

Bench seat, no console, non-posi rear.
The original owner sure had nothing in common with what I would have wanted on that car.
I think they had trouble selling them because they weren't offered with ac. In Tennessee, ac is a must !
I would have bought the 360 hp version all clapped out and planned to upgrade it to a 427 later.
I love the 427/390 hp Corvette engine. Best ever.

Yet PGN calls it a "race car". The non-posi is curious, but then this car isn't necessarily what it was rolling out the gate. His claim of "original drivetrain including the rear" doesn't hold any water since the rear has no vin stamp. Certainly possible and more than likely the rear suffered trauma or was just changed out for shorter gears somewhere down the road. This is the problem I have with PGN, he always paints a story that can be refuted by the least savvy chevelle enthusiast.

In the 70's we would break things and instead of fixing a rear end, trans or engines it was usually easier and faster to just do a swap (depending how bad the engine was hurt) my guess is the rear end isn't original, Id have to use both hands to count how many rears I've swapped but only had 1 repaired and that's the 12 bolt in my car now and it came from a 68SS Chevelle

I guess I was a rare knowledgeable 17 year old when I walked into the local Chevy dealer in April 1967 and ordered my new L78 Chevelle SS! I had to educate the salesman about the L78 option as he had no clue but quickly learned that I was right! Of course the car was titled in my Dad’s name because I was a minor but I paid every penny for that wonderful car until I sadly sold it in a depressed state of mind after being #10 in the 1969 draft lottery during Vietnam! The only lottery I ever won! Ha! Sad day watching that car leave my driveway!

Now, over 50 years later, here I am building a clone of my car with one of the original 612 L78 engines built in June 1967 on the same day my old car was assembled! That’s karma in my mind!

Wow, unfortunately, your story is probably shared by thousands of guys.
You must be ~ 4 years older than me (I was born in 54) so when I turned 16, it was summer of 1970
and muscle cars were just starting on their way out.
I wasn't like you in that I didn't know anything about cars at the time. I was into basketball and golf.
Only until I was a junior in college did my friends help me find a 66 Chevelle SS396 4 speed (Black/black).
That's when I learned about muscle cars.

he's arrogant as hell... sat at the same table at NOCC Chevelle show in 2019. He's so full of himself, I couldn't stand the guy.

I’ll be the one to say it…he’s an asshole. If you saw the shit he pulled at the NOCC show in 2021…..

Let's just say he proved what a colossal douche he is by pulling into the paid sponsor trailer spots on the hotel lot in the middle of the night. Then didn't want to move it. Then pulled it sideways in front of everyone else so in the event a truck had to get out, it couldn't. Also never registered for the show. Thought he could just show up and pull on the field without paying. Then there was an argument with one of the guys there that is a local police officer...you can imagine how being a dickhead to a cop went over. And to cap it all off, there was a lot lizard there and he may have been seen going in and out of hotel rooms with said lot lizard.

I recall said lot lizard, she gave a bad name to skeezers everywhere! I think Karen Lassiter said that someone had covered her room for a couple of days, and she was out in the parking lot in the early am hours dancing around.
Anyone recall the tranny night clerk at one of the Chevelleabration hotels for a couple of years?

That was the “it” at the Motel 6. I remember that well. That was the first year me and my dad went down there. We were both like WTF is that 🤣🤣
