Actually Tesla has been know to have several problems for a long time.
They often "Fix" the problem with a replacement car or a pay-off, and always an NDA to keep it quiet.
The transmissions have been a long term problem, the pesky spontaneous fires are hard to hide, and do not forget the "Driver Assist" that beheaded the driver.
All of this pre-dates Musk getting involved with Twit, much of it goes back to when Musk was still a Lib favorite.
