1964 Oldsmobile Starfire Convertible

I remember when we had to get cars inspected for road safety, that Blue window sticker just reminded me of that, my old clunkers use to hate going there, Whatta ya mean I don't have enough tire tread on my back tires!...I don't need a stinkin horn I can YELL just fine! :ROFLMAO:

That inspection sticker is from Colorado.
 
Got her in the garage, but the carb is leaking like crazy, so ordering a rebuild kit. While I'm at it I'll rebuild the fuel pump (yep, it's rebuildable). Might as well give her a full tune up at the same time.

Learned something interesting when over at classicoldsmobile.com regarding the rebuilding of the Rochester 4GC.

If we intend on running up to 10% ethanol, you need to bump up the jets (increase in size) in the carb otherwise it'll run too lean.

I just ordered new jets from Daytona Parts bumping the primaries from 54 to 55, and the secondaries from 80 to 82.
 
Well, by accident I came across a thread that spoke of a gentleman in Concord, NC who specializes in rebuilding the Roto 10 transmission. He was/is factory trained specifically on the early Hydramatic transmissions. I wasn't sure if he was still around/alive so I sent an email early this morning and he just responded.

$2,100 for a full rebuild plus any hard parts that need replacing. 2 week turn around time. So I'm thinking I can drop it off the next time we visit Michelle and Hunter, and maybe someone I know who lives in NC can pick t up 2 weeks later and hold onto it until the next time we get up there (most likely within a couple of months). That'll save a ton of time and fabrication I'd have to do to convert it over to a TH400.
 
That'd be great Kevin and Im thinking when you go to sell the car it would probably be worth more $ with an orig rebuilt trans, bet most have been converted, But who do you know in NC 😉

I am 1 1/2 hrs from Concord, you know I will get it for you.
