Body mounts...

I am needing new body mounts/bushings again. Inline Tube just got theirs back in stock and they seem to get good reviews on Amazon (albeit not very many). I also see that I can get the Prothane mounts for the same price, but it looks like I will have to source the metal inserts from somewhere or use the existing ones. Are the urethane body mounts worth it, or just stick with the original style?
 
I've used both and the rubber broke down before the urethane ones did. I put new rubber mounts and bushings in my Ranger about 5 years ago and the bushings are starting to creak and squeak already. Not sure if the rubber compounds used these days is the same as original, but when I put my lift back up I'm changing them out to urethane.
 
The urethane ones are way too expensive, as you have to purchase a sleeve kit (or reuse the existing sleeves - provided that they are still usable). I ordered the ones from Inline Tube, as they are getting really good reviews and supposedly come with the original GM part numbers on them.
 
So your rubber bushings are wearing out after how long? The same as modern tires.....rubber is this inferior compared to 50 years past?? If this is the case, I can't see how one's product is better than another's but that's the conversation I'd have with the vendor. I've got some perfect looking 50 plus year old bushings, just not enough for a complete set.
 
I'm thinking the rubber made today is "improved" to save money and doesn't wear anywhere near as good as stock 50 years ago. I've even noticed the vulcanized rubber on engine and trans mounts are no where near as good as the used to be.
 
I have repop ones on my Bronze Chevelle, so far so good after 8 years. Amazing how nice new bushings make the car feel.
 
Wonder if I need new ones they're 47 years old? Been going to change them just haven't got there yet.

My Gold AZ car's mount boults came out of the cage nuts perfectly. My Bonze former MD car not so much, broke both bolts into the cage nuts under the trunk pan. It is a sucky job.
 
Ive always heard Prothane were harder than Poly so my body bushings are Poly.

I have different types of bushings all over the car depending what its used for. Which I think is wise because different materials have different properties and uses.

1. Body mounts are all Poly
2. Rear UMI control arms are all Roto-Joints (solids)
3. Drive Side Engine mount is Solid. (Limits engine rise and TQ flex to the right)
4. Pass Side Engine mount is Poly. (Allows for some compression to the right)
5. Trans Mount is rubber. (Help absorb any other vibrations)
6. Half my front suspension is Poly (the older stuff). I'm currently changing all front suspension moving pieces to Delrin for the lubricity. Im only doing this as I replace old bushings. A few weeks ago, my front poly sway bar bushing started to crack so I bought the Delrin. Im dong a-arms next.

If I had to do body mounts now, I've heard great things about Silicone Rubber.

That’s the truth. I’ve got NOS rubber parts from the 30s and 40s and it’s just like new. I’ve also got stuff from the 90s that I have to toss Because it’s like a little rock
